Inequality Multiplicative Inverse Property

if the following are true:

  • a > 0
  • b > 0
  • a < b

then 1 / a > 1 / b

Here are some examples:

  1. if 3 < 5, then 1 / 3 > 1 / 5

  2. if the following are true:

    • x > 0
    • x < 10

    then 1 / x > 1 / 10

  3. if the following are true:

    • 3 ⋅ m > 0
    • 15 + n > 0
    • 3 ⋅ m < 15 + n

    then 1 / (3 ⋅ m) > 1 / (15 + n)
