Algebra 1 / Chapter 1: Addition And Subtraction / Properties of Addition
Associative Property of Addition
This property says that when adding 3 terms, changing the order of operations does not change the outcome. More precisely:
(a + b) + c = a + (b + c)
Here are some examples:
(5 + 7) + 9 = 5 + (7 + 9)
(x + 1) + z = x + (1 + z)
((m ⋅ n) + 2) + (j ⋅ k) = (m ⋅ n) + (2 + (j ⋅ k))
Quiz (1 point)
